WordPress maintenance for businesses in Wetzlar and Central Hesse

Your WordPress site works, but nobody looks after its updates any more? I take over the maintenance of existing WordPress sites, including sites another agency built. I name the monthly price after a free check.

In short: WordPress maintenance at Coday means keeping WordPress, plugins and the theme up to date, keeping the PHP version at your hosting provider on a supported release, backing up before every update and monitoring whether the site is reachable. I also take over sites built by other agencies; your hosting stays with your hosting provider. I name the monthly price after a free check, and maintenance keeps the site up to date until a rebuild without PHP is due, if you want one.

WordPress maintenance

What maintenance includes

Maintenance includes four things:

Core, plugins and theme

I install updates for WordPress, plugins and the theme and then check that the site runs as before.

PHP version at your hosting provider

I keep the PHP version of your package on a release for which the PHP project provides security updates, and coordinate the switch with your hosting provider.

A backup before every update

Before every update a backup is made. If something does not work afterwards, I restore it and look for the cause before I install the update again.

Monitoring whether the site is reachable

An automated service checks whether the site is reachable and notifies me when it goes down.

Takeover

Taking over from another agency

If another agency built your site, no longer exists or has no time for it, I take over the maintenance. For that I need access to WordPress, to your account at the hosting provider and to the domain, plus the licenses of purchased plugins and themes.

Your hosting stays with your hosting provider: Coday does not host websites. The site, the access and the data remain yours. When maintenance ends, you change the passwords and I no longer have access.

Background

Why it matters now

  • The PHP project provides security updates for PHP 8.2 until 31 December 2026; PHP 8.1 and older no longer receive official security updates. [1] [2]
  • About 58% of WordPress sites ran on PHP 8.2 or older on 23 October 2026, about 35% on versions without security updates from the PHP project. [3]
  • WordPress itself recommends PHP 8.3 or newer. [4]
  • On 21 October 2026 the PHP project released emergency updates for two critical security flaws; according to the BSI, updating the application is not enough for these flaws, the PHP version on the server has to be updated. [5] [6]

How to check your PHP version is explained on the page about PHP security; what the end of PHP 8.2 support means, in the guide.

Rebuild

Safer in the long run: Next.js or plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript

A site without PHP code, hosted with a provider that runs no PHP, does not execute the code of these flaws. I remove old PHP installations in the same hosting package during the move. That does not make a website unhackable, because nothing does: Next.js needs updates too: on 3 December 2025 the React team disclosed a critical flaw in React Server Components (CVE-2025-55182) that also hit Next.js. [7]

The new site is built with Next.js or with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript without a framework.

Maintenance is the bridge until the move: it keeps your WordPress site up to date until the rebuild is due.

Frequently asked questions about WordPress maintenance

What does WordPress maintenance cost at Coday?

I name the monthly price after a free check of your site. It depends on how many plugins the site has, what state it is in and whether the PHP version has to change. It is fixed before maintenance starts.

What does WordPress maintenance include?

Updates for WordPress, plugins and the theme, the PHP version at your hosting provider on a supported release, a backup before every update and automated monitoring of whether the site is reachable. If something does not work after an update, I restore the backup.

Do you also take over sites that another agency built?

Yes. For that I need access to WordPress, to your hosting provider and to the domain, plus the licenses of purchased plugins and themes. Your hosting stays with your hosting provider.

Do you host my website?

No. Coday does not host websites; your site stays with your hosting provider, and I work with the access you give me. When maintenance ends, you change the passwords and I no longer have access.

How can I cancel maintenance?

Under the general terms and conditions of Coday; they state the notice period for maintenance and support contracts.

Does maintenance protect against security flaws like those of October 2026?

Not against every one: That does not make a website unhackable, because nothing does. Maintenance makes sure that security updates for WordPress, plugins, the theme and PHP do not pile up, that a backup is made before every update and that an outage gets noticed. If a flaw is in PHP itself, as with the emergency updates of the PHP project of 21 October 2026, I coordinate the PHP update with your hosting provider.
